Tanzanian Companies Shining at SADC Industrialisation Week 2024 in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Aja (T) Limited is an exporter of sisal fibers under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Happiness Nyiti is the Managing Director and the first woman to trade under AfCFTA, pioneering women’s participation in this trade agreement.

Aja T limited was invited to the SADC Industrialization Week to discuss the opportunities and challenges of trading under AfCFTA. During the discussion, Ms. Nyiti mentioned that sisal is an overall solution to climate change and is a significant commercial crop in Tanzania. The country plants more than 70,000 hectares of sisal, and in recent years, Tanzania has exported almost 60,000 tons, with the volume increasing each year due to initiatives by the government, private sector (TPSF), and the Tanzania Sisal Board to support farmers and exporters. By 2030, sisal fiber will become a preferred product with a 0% duty rate.
